Interpersonal
About
Receptiviti's Interpersonal Framework measures the similarities and differences between the way two or more people are using language when speaking with each other. The Interpersonal Framework is based on the Linguistic Style Matching (LSM) algorithm that measures verbal mimicry and cohesion through automated textual analysis of function words.

Measures
The following categories have each been shown to provide strong, distinct signals for measuring interpersonal language across a range of contexts and outcomes:
| Measure | Summary |
|---|---|
Stylistic Accommodation | The degree to which one or more people speaking together converge to each others' speech patterns and behaviour, and how they coordinate linguistic style nonconsciously through the use of function words. |
Stylistic Cohesion | The comparison of the probability that a stylistic dimension exists within a conversation against the probability that the same dimension is exhibited in language that is not part of conversations. |
Stylistic Influence | The degree to which one participant in a conversation influences the linguistic style of the other partner, or vise versa. |
Stylistic Symmetry | A measure within the phenomenon of Stylistic Accommodation where both participants in a conversation accommodate to each other stylistically, or the level of asymmetry that exists within a conversation, where one of the participants does not accommodate to the other. |
Specs and Examples
A score of 0.0 indicates that the participants in a conversation are not speaking more similarly than they would otherwise be speaking.
If the participants in a conversation are speaking more similarly than a group of people within the same context would speak when not engaged in a conversation together, the score will be >0.0, with higher scores indicating more similarity.
If the participants in a conversation are speaking less similarly than a group of people within the same context would speak when not engaged in a conversation together, the score will be <0.0, with lower scores indicating more diversion.
Example: Person A: “Hey! Do you want to go see a movie with all of us tomorrow?” Person B: “Sure! I was going to do the laundry and dishes, but I can put them off a little longer to see you guys.”
